Blessing of the Fleet

Blessing of the Fleet
Join St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church for the annual Blessing of the Fleet on March 15 at 1100 Shrimp Boat Lane. The morning begins with a waterside church service at 10:00 a.m., followed by a short blessing service for the fishing fleet. The Bishop will then walk along the docks to bless each vessel individually, continuing a tradition that celebrates the community’s maritime heritage. Afterward, participants will board a private vessel for a ride past the docks, local restaurants, and the Coast Guard station, concluding at Marker 17, where all boats will receive a final blessing.
St. Raphael’s has taken part in the Blessing of the Fleet since the very first ceremony in 1952, honoring and praying for the safety of those who work and travel on the water.
